My future is uncertain as far as the world's concerned,
But I have an anchor that never fails.
My hope is not in this life or in things I can touch or see,
But I'm walking towards a city that's promised for eternity.
Oooo, this is not my home.
Oooo, I'm a traveller on the road.
My heart it is yearning for rest and sweet repose
That I have in Christ in part, but someday will know fully.
So I'll walk arm in arm with my family down the road
The narrow path, the highway of the holy.
Oooo, this is not our home.
Oooo, we are travelers on the road.
The Bible will be our road map and the Spirit our trusted guide
Jesus our faithful shepherd, God the Father watching o'er us from on ihgh
As we walk towards the place that's prepared for us we will never walk on alone,
And nothing can separate us from God's love or stop us from reaching home
Oooo, heaven is our home.
Oooo, God will lead us down the road, to our home.
verses EmAm riff, chorus CGDAm, last verse CGD....
This song is about how the hope and stay of my life is the eternal life that God has promised in heaven, which will be an even fuller and complete revelation of the life that I have with Him here. When I mention walking down the road with my family I mean my church family.
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12
But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Is 35:10
(Christians have been ransomed with Jesus' blood so we can go to heaven)
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering Hebrews 12:22
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." Rev 7:17
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Rev 21:4
*This is my personal testimony based on my personal beliefs (which I believe are shared by most Bible believing Christians) and some cool verses that seem to go with the song.
