Burn

Looking to the mirror for a grade
Looking to others to see how I measure up
Thinking about old mistakes I've made
And why I don't feel like I'm quite enough

But You, see the me inside, and You've loved me through it all
I'm Your creation and Your child
And I am made to worship you, with everything that I do
I want to serve you with all that I am.

CHORUS
Burn, Burn....Burn away the lies with the passion in Your eyes
You see me as I am, and You look on me with love.
Light, Light...Light my heart on fire, and help me lift You higher
Let me know Your endless love.

Verses
All around us are pictures and promises false and failing
Empty lies that just won't satisfy
But in Your word there is the truth and I'll delight myself in You
In Your spirit I'm alive.

People will sometimes let us down that's how it is here on the ground
but by Your grace Lord Yours are changing
You know what You've made us to be, so help us with Your eyes to see
each other as new and true, though our lives You're still rearranging

CHORUS
Burn, Burn....Burn away the lies, with the passion in Your eyes
You see us as we are, and You look on us with love.
Light, Light...Light our hearts on fire, and help us to lift you higher
Let us know Your endless love.

BRIDGE
Earthly things will fade away, but what You've done Lord will remain.
Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!
You've made me new and I am clean in Jesus Christ who has died for me.
Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!

Earthly things will fade away, but what You've done Lord will remain.
Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!
You've made Yours new and we are clean in Jesus Christ who sets us free.
Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!

2 Cor 5:16-17
From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

1 John 4:16
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 2:15a
Do not love the world or the things in the world.

Ps 63:3-5
Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips

Is 40: 6b-8 A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. 7 The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Eccl 3:14
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life

I don't know about ya'll, but I have struggled with comparing myself to others and judging myself by the standards of the world in various areas of life.  I've thought..."if only ....." then I would be happy, but the truth is that I find joy in Christ, and in realizing that God loves me so much that he sent someone to die to be my propitiation (redemptive substitute- bought me back by taking my place for what I had done wrong) and that I am forgiven and get to have eternal life.  His word will stand forever.

It is cool that God has made me a new person, just like all those who by the gift of faith in Jesus Christ are His children, and that He sees us and calls us to see each other as such, though we are still works in progress.  As New Year's Eve rolls around, may we all see ourselves as He does, and see each other likewise.  My prayer for myself is that the fire and passion of God's love will "burn" out any of the lies that keep me from doing that and seeing Him as He is.

If you don't know that you are a new creation, please ask God about that, look in His Bible, and ask people who read, believe and do what the Bible says to and are full of love.  Feel free to ask me as well (I hope and like to think I am in the last category).

: ) a Joyful New Year to all!

Thusfar Untitled

I feel like I'm in a corner;
I'm feeling somewhat desperate, but You, You are with me still.
Adrift in  a sea of answers to the same old familiar questions
When all I want is your will.

You have never left me.  You will never leave me, and
wisdom You are faithful to provide.
You are a God of action.  I wait on Your compassion that is
sure as the dawn and faithful as the tide.

CHORUS
You are able to save!
You are able to heal!
You are able to lift me out of this!
You've delivered before, and
You'll save me again, and I will rejoice in faith because of this!

Your Spirit that's strong and mighty, is within, around, beside me; I'm safe, and my life's in Your hands.
It's not just a pithy saying, there's a reason to You I'm praying, for everything is under Your command!

In Christ You hear each whisper, each word, each sigh I've ever uttered.
You're next to me when I laugh and when I cry.
So, I'll not fear the future for Your love and mercy follow, and Your word and Son are my light and my guide.

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hosanna to the King!
Praise You Yahweh, Praise You Yahweh!  Have mercy LORD of everything!

It may be necessary to capo, as in this key it is really low for a woman's voice.

Backstory:
This song is inspired by this cool teaching on communicating with God that I listened to on P4CM.com (really enjoyed it, it is here http://www.p4cm.com/video/how-communicate-god-pt-1).  Something that really touched me was how the Psalms talk to God honestly and then bring praise to Him and rejoice in His character at any time.

This afternoon and for a while I have been somewhat confused regarding some health stuff that is bothersome.  To add to this my temp job ended yesterday and I'm not sure which way to go, so out of said issues I expressed towards God the general feeling of, "Good grief, I am really sick of this and confused and do not know what is or should be next" and then sang to Him about who He was, what He's done, and how He is good and able and faithful to save.  Even if I do not know what to do, I do know the One with the answers:).

Here are some verses I was thinking of that inspired or go particularly well with the song.  They are in ESV translation.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Ps 121:2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Ps 139:3-5  You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Ps 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Hopefully this is encouraging to anyone who's been confused, frustrated, or needs God to step in (all of us!).

Blessings to you!
