Verse 1
When will you hear my plea to save me?
When will you reach down and touch this broken life that is mine?
When will you move on my behalf O Lord?
Why have you not listened to my cries?
CHORUS
You are my shepherd in the lonesome valley
You are my anchor on the troubled sea
You are my shelter from the storm that's raging
You are standing in the fire with me
I will trust you though I cannot see you
I will lean upon your love that's stong
I will praise you with all that I am, Lord,
I will join my voice to heaven's song
Verse 2
O you have heard my cry, the words before they left my mouth,
and you are working all together for my good.
Your hand it makes a way behind and before me
You'll do what you said you would
CHORUS
BRIDGE/TAG
Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!
All his ways are just and true.
Worthy is the Lamb to receive
Wisdom, might, honor, glory, power, wealth and blessing!
I lift up my heart to you.
Story: Was feeling a bit frustrated. Feeling kinda gross physically at the time I wrote it, and cannot really do a whole lot about it on my own. Not fun. No job. Tired of jumping between jobs. Frustrated about other stuff. So decided to sing to the Lord, then, as it went on, felt really encouraged in Him. And, then, it moved to, "I will declare your goodness and faithfulness and bless you because you are good forever!" Hope it will be a blessing and encouragement to anyone who has ever felt like: Argh! What is going on? Where are you God?
Some of the Scriptures or stories used in writing this or that remind me of this writing are
Ps 23:1a The Lord is my shepherd
Ps 23:4a Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me
Ps 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Daniel 3:24-25 (I wish I could post the whole chapter, it rocks)
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king."
He answered and said, "But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods."
Ps 139:4-5
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Rev 5:12
saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"

I don’t know what I don't know I know
I don’t know what I don't know I know, but I know that You know what I need and You know how to show me. You know how to show me.
I don’t know where my life’s gonna go but I know where I go You will go behind and before me, and even within me.
CHORUS
You’re a good, good shepherd.
Each day Your mercies are brand new.
You’re so true and faithful in everything You do
So I won’t fear tomorrow
Because I know You’ll be there too.
Blessings, praise and thanks be unto You
I know that You care in my joy and despair, Lord You number my hairs when I call You are there, You are with me, You are always with me
Even when I’m afraid, when mistakes I have made, by my side You have stayed for You paid the price to redeem me, to pardon and free me.
CHORUS
BRIDGE Lord, You’re my light and my salvation, my source and my life. I’m so thankful You love me, You proved it by Christ crucified.
When I’m caught in a bind or I’m feeling behind at Your throne I will cry and I always will find that You save me, though maybe not like I’m praying
When I feel at my worst and I hunger and thirst or think I just might burst, Lord, You hear, and Your spirit relieves me, by Your word You feed me
CHORUS
When I’m tired and sad or my day’s been real bad, God, You’ll still be my Dad, and in Jesus You’re glad to accept me. You will not reject me.
When I’m on top of the world and my tongue is unfurled in sweet praise, I’m still Your girl and You’ll still be right with me, if it was good it was a gift from You to me.
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Not with pick, arpeggiated, any order/permutation of chorus, bridge, verse that feels right
Verse GCG
Chorus CGCGCGCD, CGCDEmCGD double-time chord changes
Bridge DCGDCGDCGEmD
This song was inspired as I was praying about something I was asked the other day about how God thought about me. I know the right answer in my head, but I really don’t know what is implied in understanding it in my heart. I know that God’s love is in my heart by the Holy Spirit, and I have tasted and understood some of that, but I realized that I didn’t really know what I didn’t know or should know or even what I already knew (haha, confusing). Good thing God is a good God.
The song is addressed to YAHWEH, the name of the Triune God as one unit (I think) although in some parts I seem to have veered more towards addressing various members of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
Hopefully the words are fun to sing or read, pleasing to the Lord, and encouraging to anybody who has ever been confused, sad, mad, happy, made mistakes, not known about the future, been afraid, or had an unusual affinity for assonance and alliteration (rhymes with vowels and consonants).
Here are some of the verses that I thought of whilst writing. If you would like to look up some of the longer ones you can go to studylight.org, or youversion.com (has a lot of foreign language ones).
Ps 23
Ps 139
Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
Matthew 10:30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. (also similar in Luke 12:7)
Matthew 10:30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. (also similar in Luke 12:7)
Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
Eph 3:16-18that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(may God let us all know this one, how much He loves us!)

Romans 8:28
O, I'm looking around and I'm wondering, have I done something wrong?
Did I fall down and not see it?
Send your mercy, Lord, I need it.
Seems like things are not turning out
A downward spiral leading to who knows where.
CHORUS
I don't know Your ways, they are higher up than mine
You are doing something, though I may not see it at this time
When I cannot see your grace, I know that You're still there,
You are my good Father and You care
Seems like my hopes for other things are put up on a shelf for a little while
I feel like life's on stall
But You are sovereign LORD and You promised in Your word
That for my good You're working in it all
CHORUS
Tag- repeat as desired
All things You work together for my good.
I believe, I believe!
All things You work together for my good.
I will trust You. I will trust You!
All things You work together for my good,
and I will rejoice in You!
Verses - F(with G top note), C, G, Am
Chorus - Am C G D

Rom 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Is 55:9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Ps 31:7
I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul,
1 Peter 5:7
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
I was feeling a bit discouraged this morning because I had to lower the wage I would accept (and I still don't have a job) and it seems like lately, as far as careers go, I may be going towards things that do not use my skills so much. This kind of gums up how I had imagined things going. Part of me was afraid that I had done something wrong and so things were going poorly. I do not think so. However, no matter what I know that God works in all things and all situations for my good, that I may be like Christ and know Him more, so I can rejoice in Him. Hopefully this can be encouraging to anyone who has ever felt or currently feels likewise!
Sovereign is not an oft used word, the way I am using it describes how God is powerful over all and has a huge and grand master plan which is being completed, though we do all have free will and bad things happen. How exactly that works, I am not sure, but it is sweet, and the way I used it in the song was to express that God has control.
Blessings to you, and may you be encouraged in His love!
