That Song of Love

Verses: AmEm CGD

Inbetween: the favorite (F6 C G then Am or D)
Between every verse a hum or an oo on the inbetween until Chorus A and Chorus B

Everyday all day your love’s with me and I cannot escape
Though my mind is blind and heart is numb, you won’t ever forsake
You keep singing knowing sometime someday I will hear your song
That song of love that you’ve sung over me my entire lifetime long

Through the stormy seasons I want reasons for why things fall down
I am looking for you, searching, though I’ve yet not heard the sound
Of your sweet, sweet song sung over me, which I do not know just yet
But I’ve started asking questions and I’m starting to suspect

You said ask and I will answer you and that’s just what you did
I asked where were you, you showed me and you took away the lid
Hiding all the evil and confusion that was in my soul
So I gave my life to you and asked for you to take control

(hold on D)And now I hear your song:

I have loved and I will love you all your life
Though your ways had brought you far from me I paid a hefty price
I bought your soul with pain and death, but it was nothing in my eyes Compared to having you my love, you are my joy you are my prize

So now I am in your love and I will never be apart
From your presence and your spirit because now you’re in my heart
Even death will never separate, nor things I’m fighting through
So now I’m learning how to sing your song and I will sing for you:

Chorus B
You have loved me and so I will love you with all of my life
For though I was lost you came for me, though I was dark inside
You have changed me and now I am yours, you have filled me with your life
So I’ll sing to you O Father Spirit Son, you’re my delight!

Ooooo ooooo

So I lay me down to serve you and to love those that you love
To build up the broken and point those entrapped to look above
To go after those gone far from you as some came after me
To point them to the love that kept you gasping there upon the tree.

Lalalalalalalalalala(lots of la’s)

So Your Kingdom's, growing spreading as more people come to you
You put your spirit in Our hearts and keep us in all that we do
We are now you're children and your bride, a holy, chosen family
We will praise you in sweet joy and endless love for all eternity!

P.S. For anyone who is wondering where gasping comes from, as far as I know, when people were crucified, b/c of the way they were hanging, they would be mostly unable to breathe and suffocating to death. What a brutal and horrible suffering Jesus did for us. He really loves us a lot. May we know it more and more!

When... a love song

When I'm afraid to face myself,
You're not afraid of me.
When I feel cold or hard inside,
With different eyes you see....you see me.

Somtimes I tend to "run" from you;
Don't know why I'm afraid.
Your arms and love are wide enough
To hold me e'en when mistakes I've made, and by my side you've stayed.

Chorus:
You're the faithful lover of my heart
You're by my side, we'll never part
You're love is strong and it is true
That's why I love to be with you, to be with you.

Bridge
When I am dark you shine a light
and when I cry you hold me tight
When I am lost you lead the way
When I fall down you carry me

Tuning: drop D
Verses and Chorus: D, Am, Em, C6, vary on use of Em and C6
Bridge: Am Em D Am, repeat as desired

You Love Me like That

Verse- C Am G F C
You love me like that
so even when I hurt You, my love
You still call my name, You love me the same
You love me like that

You love me like that
so when my heart goes astray
You still come after me till Your love I see
You love me like that

Verse--F6, C G Am,  F6 C G F6 C
You love me like that
You'll never stop loving me
You didn't turn back on the hard road to win my heart
You love me like that
With a love that sings over me
For all the world to see, You loved and love me like that.

You love me like that
And always Your heart does cherish me
Every sigh and tear You see
and You love when I smile

You love me like that
You want me to be right next to You
I want to be close to You too
because You love me like that

Verse

Bridge Am C G
Even when I don't see the love you have for me
You still say the same Your love will not change
You patiently wait.
And You remind me again that You will be my best friend
Through all that this life may bring I can tell You anything
because You love me like that.

John 15:7

If I am in you and your word is in me
You said to ask what I wish and so it will be
As I hide in your love and I cherish your word
I know that my prayers will be answered and heard

CHORUS
I believe in your word, though I can't see it now,
but I know that you're true and you will answer somehow
Just like always, your ways, will amaze and astound
If they come with great power or without a sound

Prechorus 1
So if the answer is long in coming and our hearts feel in pain and distress
We'll remember, you're perfect and loving and you always do just what's best
So when the answer is long in coming and our hearts feel in pain and distress
You are faithful and your care you've promised so on your word we will rest

CHORUS

John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

I wrote this song about the above verse.  I know someone who needs healing and people are praying and was reminded of this.  I have also been praying for healing for myself.  I know I am not totally healed yet, and I am not sure about this other person.  But I have seen God answer prayers really fast and powerful, or over a longer period of time, unexpectedly, even imperceptibly, and He always does what is loving and best and far exceeds what we would think.  He loves us lots.

My Love

My love he set his eye on me, though I noticed him not.He saw me and he cherished me, before my glance he caught.
My love, he set his heart on me, and none could turn away
his faithful true pursuit of me, with his whole life he'd say:

(CHORUS)
My love, oh my love
I want you, I love you
My love, oh my love
how I desire your heart!

Long-suffering, his love, it was.  For years and years he'd wait
so patiently for me to see, his love he'd demonstrate.
Oblivious I wandered on, I somehow didn't see
That my good love had set himself to win and romance me.

In time I saw his love, though my heart struggled to believe
why such a one would care for me and what in me he'd seen
for none is quite so noble and so honrable and good
as him, though I know many times I've not done what I should.

My love, his love, it covers me and all the wrong I've done.
My love, his love comes after me, e'en when I hide or run.
In all my failures he has seen a value in my heart.
My love, his love will never leave, we'll never be apart.

My love, his love for me is strong, he's patient and he's kind.
When I hurt him he turns his cheek, when I am hurt he cries.
When danger came he stood between: gave his life for my own
So now I've made a place for him, my heart will be his home.

CHORUS

My love, my heart it aches for him, I want to see his face
But he has gone ahead of me, he's making me a place.
I know someday I'll see him there, and for that day I long.
For now I'll wait for him down here, his love will be my song.

CHORUS

So who's the man this song's about and how was he so great?
And how can I still sing to him with death to separate?
Jesus Christ is this true love who died and rose again.
He's calling you to be his love, and you to be his friend.

CHORUS

Chorus- the favorite, Verses- CGAmCG (2 line pattern)

This song is kind of a ballad. The chorus can be seen as the loved one singing to the person and the person singing to the loved one mentioned at various points in the song. I think the song is in 12/8 time.

The romance part may sound funny to mention about God, but there are some things about God loving the church in Ephesians 5 and is even a book called the Sacred Romance by John Eldrege and Brent Curtis that looks into the phenomenon of God calling His people to himself.

Here are some verses that seem to relate to the song.
Acts 17:26-28
26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for"'In him we live and move and have our being';

John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

John 11:33-36
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"  (italics mine)

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Eph 3:17a  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith -

 1 Cor 15:3-4
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures

Rom 5:6-8
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person - though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die - 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us

Matt 5:39 But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Jesus said this, then demonstrated it very thoroughly when he was crucified.  You can check it out if you want in the end of the gospels).

Also there may be some confusing things with the chronology of the song: since God is the Lord over and creator of time and therefore somewhat outside of our limited sphere, I figured it would still be accurate.

This one has been on deck for a while, but posting it on Good Friday seems pretty appropriate.  heh.  Happy Easter weekend!

Take Me Into You Further, God

In this world of busyness, of challenges and endless stress, I sometimes feel alone.
You said that you would shepherd me, but up ahead no rest I see, just endless miles of road.

To take care of myself I put your book and my heart on a shelf when your rest should be my home.
Why won't you lift ths load from me? I want to by still waters be, but maybe I'm the one who's roamed.

CHORUS
Take me into you further, God, and let me rest in You!
Take me into you further, God, cuz that's what I want to do, to be with You!

O all that's mine is yours,
But I am heavy full of drawers
Containing worries and stuggles I don't share.
Now God I open up, and I give you all my stuff,
for you my burdens bear.

Yes you know my every thought, but you long to hear my voice,
so I'll pour out both complaints and prayers to you.
Not just because I ought, but because my heart you've caught, and to draw near to you is what I want to do.

CHORUS

BRIDGE
So in the secret place I come to see your face, and I trust and hope in what you're going to do.
Your love will fill my soul.  I can relax, you have control, and your peace and your grace will se me through

CHORUS B
Take me into you further God, and I will find my peace in you.
I cry, take me into you futher God, and that's just what you do, and I can be with you.  I want to be with you.

Am Em C G, CHORUS Am C G D Bridge D C G D

I wrote this song as I felt quite overwhelmed.  I just started a new job three weeks ago, just signed a lease for a new place today where I will be moving in a month, have a lot of other things going on, and feel ridiculously tired and like there is no way that I am going to get enough rest and like nobody cared about it (not true, but ya'll know how fickle and silly feelings can be).  So, as I was crying to God, I thought, well, it is good to make music often in times of intense emotion, and so something like this song came out.

I took it down and it was a little different, but through the process I feel peaceful and refreshed by the presence of God and the truth that He is my good shepherd. I realized that coming to God needs to be top priority, and any rest will come from seeking him first.  I still do not know quite how that is supposed to look, but I know that he will refresh and encourage me in his presence, with his word and spirit, and also through others.

Some of the imagery in the song includes:
The imagery about the drawers is supposed to be kind of like a chest of drawers, full of stuff (maybe I have moving on the mind).
The part about my Bible and heart on a shelf is supposed to be symbolic of not spending enough time in the word and not paying attention to my own feelings.  Also earlier today I was looking for my Bible and saw that I put it on the shelf and I felt a twinge of sadness, as it reminded me that I had not spent as much time in it and seeking the Lord as I would like lately.
Finally, by saying "take me into You, further, God" I am expressing a desire to know his character and beauty further by becoming more consciously aware of his heart through prayer, Bible reading, the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, worship, and anything that would be useful in showing me His character.

May this song, it's explanation, and the accompanying verses be encouraging, especially to anyone who feels stressed or overwhelmed.

Some Bible verses that this one reminds me of are:

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

John 14:37
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Song of Songs 2:14
O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

Psalm 142:2
I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him.

Ps 23: 1-2
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

Ps 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Not One Word

I’m sometimes afraid that I’ve messed up the plans that you’ve made
Because I failed to pass the test
But you and your promises God are firm and true, based not on me but on you
And in your sovereignty I rest

Not one word of all the promises you have made, O Lord, will fail, all will come to pass
And I’ll be just where you want me to be
For you are firm and true and your word accomplishes what you’ve sent it to do
Even in a wretch like me

So I’m not in some earthly purgatory, just waiting to earn my way out
No you’re working all the time
Even when things aren’t falling into place as I hoped or planned
You are changing me inside

Your word will not fail.  Your hands took the nails.
You finished all the work I had to do
I will live out of that truth.  And I’ll put my hope in you.
That your love will bring me through

So if you think that you’ve lost it, and you’re somehow on plan z
Know that you’re just where God knew you would be
He’s so big he knew ahead what would happen, what’d be said
And he can raise your life, just like he’ll raise the dead

Not one word of all the promises you have made, O Lord, will fail, all will come to pass
It’s not dependent on us or me
Your grace can change all things your goodness and your mercy
Help us your sweet love to see

Not one word, not one word, not one word, not one word will fail

This song came from Joshua 21:45.  I don't know about you all who are reading this, but I know I have sometimes felt like, woah, I have messed up what God wanted for my life and now I'm kind of in this strange third category where I am not in a horrible place, but not where I am supposed to be either.  However, it is my personal opinion that God is way bigger than any failure I or anyone could ever make, and being as He is outside of time and such, He would be able to plan and account for such things (and has definitely done so in the past) and already has.  So a big yay for the God who has a plan and is big and smart enough to carry it out, even through and for failing and fallen people like myself.

Another lovely few verses that relate:
Is 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.
Joshua 21:45
Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
Hebrews 4:16  That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring - not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

John 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

You are

Verse 1

When will you hear my plea to save me?
When will you reach down and touch this broken life that is mine?
When will you move on my behalf O Lord?
Why have you not listened to my cries?

CHORUS

You are my shepherd in the lonesome valley
You are my anchor on the troubled sea
You are my shelter from the storm that's raging
You are standing in the fire with me

I will trust you though I cannot see you
I will lean upon your love that's stong
I will praise you with all that I am, Lord,
I will join my voice to heaven's song

Verse 2
O you have heard my cry, the words before they left my mouth,
and you are working all together for my good.
Your hand it makes a way behind and before me
You'll do what you said you would

CHORUS

BRIDGE/TAG
Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!
All his ways are just and true.
Worthy is the Lamb to receive
Wisdom, might, honor, glory, power, wealth and blessing!
I lift up my heart to you.

Story:  Was feeling a bit frustrated.  Feeling kinda gross physically at the time I wrote it, and cannot really do a whole lot about it on my own.  Not fun.  No job.  Tired of jumping between jobs.  Frustrated about other stuff.  So decided to sing to the Lord, then, as it went on, felt really encouraged in Him.  And, then, it moved to, "I will declare your goodness and faithfulness and bless you because you are good forever!"  Hope it will be a blessing  and encouragement to anyone who has ever felt like: Argh!  What is going on?  Where are you God?

Some of the Scriptures or stories used in writing this or that remind me of this writing are

Ps 23:1a The Lord is my shepherd
Ps 23:4a Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me
Ps 91:1  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Daniel 3:24-25 (I wish I could post the whole chapter, it rocks)
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king."
He answered and said, "But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods."
Ps 139:4-5
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Rev 5:12
saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"

I don’t know what I don't know I know

I don’t know what I don't know I know, but I know that You know what I need and You know how to show me.  You know how to show me.
I don’t know where my life’s gonna go but I know where I go You will go behind and before me, and even within me.

CHORUS
You’re a good, good shepherd.
Each day Your mercies are brand new.
You’re so true and faithful in everything You do
So I won’t fear tomorrow
Because I know You’ll be there too.
Blessings, praise and thanks be unto You

I know that You care in my joy and despair, Lord You number my hairs when I call You are there, You are with me, You are always with me
Even when I’m afraid, when mistakes I have made, by my side You have stayed for You paid the price to redeem me, to pardon and free me.

CHORUS

BRIDGE Lord, You’re my light and my salvation, my source and my life.  I’m so thankful You love me, You proved it by Christ crucified.

When I’m caught in a bind or I’m feeling behind at Your throne I will cry and I always will find that You save me, though maybe not like I’m praying
When I feel at my worst and I hunger and thirst or think I just might burst, Lord, You hear, and Your spirit relieves me, by Your word You feed me

CHORUS

When I’m tired and sad or my day’s been real bad, God, You’ll still be my Dad, and in Jesus You’re glad to accept me.  You will not reject me.
When I’m on top of the world and my tongue is unfurled in sweet praise, I’m still Your girl and You’ll still be right with me, if it was good it was a gift from You to me.

CHORUS
BRIDGE
Not with pick, arpeggiated, any order/permutation of chorus, bridge, verse that feels right
Verse GCG
Chorus CGCGCGCD, CGCDEmCGD double-time chord changes
Bridge DCGDCGDCGEmD
This song was inspired as I was praying about something I was asked the other day about how God thought about me.  I know the right answer in my head, but I really don’t know what is implied in understanding it in my heart.  I know that God’s love is in my heart by the Holy Spirit, and I have tasted and understood some of that, but I realized that I didn’t really know what I didn’t know or should know or even what I already knew (haha, confusing).  Good thing God is a good God.
The song is addressed to YAHWEH, the name of the Triune God as one unit (I think) although in some parts I seem to have veered more towards addressing various members of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
Hopefully the words are fun to sing or read, pleasing to the Lord, and encouraging to anybody who has ever been confused, sad, mad, happy, made mistakes, not known about the future, been afraid, or had an unusual affinity for assonance and alliteration (rhymes with vowels and consonants).
Here are some of the verses that I thought of whilst writing.  If you would like to look up some of the longer ones you can go to studylight.org, or youversion.com (has a lot of foreign language ones).
Ps 23
Ps 139
Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
 Matthew 10:30
But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. (also similar in Luke 12:7)
Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
Eph 3:16-18
that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(may God let us all know this one, how much He loves us!)

Romans 8:28

O, I'm looking around and I'm wondering, have I done something wrong?
Did I fall down and not see it?
Send your mercy, Lord, I need it.
Seems like things are not turning out
A downward spiral leading to who knows where.

CHORUS
I don't know Your ways, they are higher up than mine
You are doing something, though I may not see it at this time
When I cannot see your grace, I know that You're still there,
You are my good Father and You care

Seems like my hopes for other things are put up on a shelf for a little while
I feel like life's on stall
But You are sovereign LORD and You promised in Your word
That for my good You're working in it all

CHORUS

Tag- repeat as desired
All things You work together for my good.
I believe, I believe!
All things You work together for my good.
I will trust You.  I will trust You!
All things You work together for my good,
and I will rejoice in You!

Verses - F(with G top note), C, G, Am
Chorus - Am C G D
Bridge - C G D Am

Rom 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Is 55:9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Ps 31:7
I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul,

1 Peter 5:7
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

I was feeling a bit discouraged this morning because I had to lower the wage I would accept (and I still don't have a job) and it seems like lately, as far as careers go, I may be going towards things that do not use my skills so much.  This kind of gums up how I had imagined things going.  Part of me was afraid that I had done something wrong and so things were going poorly.  I do not think so.  However, no matter what I know that God works in all things and all situations for my good, that I may be like Christ and know Him more, so I can rejoice in Him.  Hopefully this can be encouraging to anyone who has ever felt or currently feels likewise!

Sovereign is not an oft used word, the way I am using it describes how God is powerful over all and has a huge and grand master plan which is being completed, though we do all have free will and bad things happen.  How exactly that works, I am not sure, but it is sweet, and the way I used it in the song was to express that God has control.

Blessings to you, and may you be encouraged in His love!
