I’m sometimes afraid that I’ve messed up the plans that you’ve made
Because I failed to pass the test
But you and your promises God are firm and true, based not on me but on you
And in your sovereignty I rest
Not one word of all the promises you have made, O Lord, will fail, all will come to pass
And I’ll be just where you want me to be
For you are firm and true and your word accomplishes what you’ve sent it to do
Even in a wretch like me
So I’m not in some earthly purgatory, just waiting to earn my way out
No you’re working all the time
Even when things aren’t falling into place as I hoped or planned
You are changing me inside
Your word will not fail. Your hands took the nails.
You finished all the work I had to do
I will live out of that truth. And I’ll put my hope in you.
That your love will bring me through
So if you think that you’ve lost it, and you’re somehow on plan z
Know that you’re just where God knew you would be
He’s so big he knew ahead what would happen, what’d be said
And he can raise your life, just like he’ll raise the dead
Not one word of all the promises you have made, O Lord, will fail, all will come to pass
It’s not dependent on us or me
Your grace can change all things your goodness and your mercy
Help us your sweet love to see
Not one word, not one word, not one word, not one word will fail
This song came from Joshua 21:45. I don't know about you all who are reading this, but I know I have sometimes felt like, woah, I have messed up what God wanted for my life and now I'm kind of in this strange third category where I am not in a horrible place, but not where I am supposed to be either. However, it is my personal opinion that God is way bigger than any failure I or anyone could ever make, and being as He is outside of time and such, He would be able to plan and account for such things (and has definitely done so in the past) and already has. So a big yay for the God who has a plan and is big and smart enough to carry it out, even through and for failing and fallen people like myself.
Another lovely few verses that relate:
Is 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.
Joshua 21:45
Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
Hebrews 4:16 That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring - not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,
John 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
