Your Mercy Never Fails

Your mercy never fails, and Your love it goes on and on and on and on.
Your mercy never fails, and it never will.

As I'm walking through this life, not dependent on myself but on Your grace and on Your love
My hope is firmer than before, for You are steadfast and You're sure and Your faithfulness has no end

Not by what I do but by faith through the grace that You’ve given me, that You give for free, I’m saved
My hope will rest in You, it’s the blood of Christ that brings me through the veil, and You will not fail me, no not ever.
BRIDGE:  Oh, when the storm goes on around me, above the noise I hear Your still small voice, saying You are with me.  And though the fire of testing burns away, the gold of faith in You will be refined and beautiful.  For Your mercy and love bring me through!

This song is about God's compassion and mercy, towards me, towards all His children, towards all people in that He gives life and breath, food and sunshine, etc, and the chance to know Him.  His mercy is over us and in His mercy He sent Jesus to bear our shame and sin on the cross.  His mercy helps me as I am still making mistakes as His child, but growing toward His likeness as I behold the character of God.  His mercy protects me. I can trust in His unfailing love, even in times of trouble or testing, for God has promised never to leave nor forsake in His word.  His mercy is also extended to all freely.

Isa 55:1 -"Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Jesus said

Joh 6:37 - All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

(bolded sections, mine)

Lest I give someone the wrong idea I shall include Romans 2:4: Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
Forbearance = patience in witholding punishment due
Repentance=change of heart and action with respect to sin vs. belief and following God.

The reference to the veil is talking about something that happened when Jesus died to the veil in the temple in Jerusalem.  There was a place called the Holy of Holies, where people dare not go, except for a priest, once a year only with blood to atone for sins (I think atone means to make the payment for/make up for/etc).

When Jesus died His blood atoned/paid for our sins, so there was no longer a separation necessary between us and God the Father.  During the earthquake after His death the veil was torn in two, symbolic of the access that we can now have to the Father through the blood of Jesus that has paid the price for our sins and made us legally right with God.  We had to be made legally right b/c God is a just God, and He would not be good if He did not punish our sins.  However, we could not and cannot pay our penalty or get out of trouble on our own, so He sent Jesus Christ, His only Son, to pay the price and get us back.  What a good God.

Disclaimer: I am not a Bible teacher, but this is what I feel and believe, so if you have questions please ask someone who reads the Bible and is qualified to teach.  If you believe in Jesus and there seems to be anything in what I say that is doctrinally correct, please let me know so that I can check it out and fix it if necessary.
